CIVIL INVESTIGATIONS

ASSET SEARCHES

MB Associates has extensive experience in locating hidden assets.  Financial asset investigations are valuable in numerous situations, from determining whether it is worthwhile to pursue litigation, to assessing  a judgment-debtor's ability to pay, to recovering stolen assets,  conducting thorough due diligence and determining if an individual is involved in a criminal enterprise. For individuals involved in divorce actions,  asset investigations are invaluable in determining if the other spouse is concealing community property funds.  If an employer believes he is a victim of fraud, an asset search on the suspect might well give him his answer.
Aside from banking and investments, real property, business assets, income and insurance policies, assets might be concealed in mortgage pay-downs, sweetheart lawsuits, shell corporations, over-payments to the IRS, collectibles and even prepaid credit cards.  If an individual's stated income could not support the extravagant lifestyle they lead, there is a good chance that an asset search would reveal that there are funds out there not readily visible to the untrained eye.

SKIP TRACING

A term usually used to refer to tracking down an elusive judgment-debtora skip-trace is also called simply a people locate.  The term's origins refer to one who "skips out" on a financial obligation.  Whatever term you use, the objective is locating someone who is not easy to find.  This might be by design or it could be because a person has moved across the country, uses another name, particularly in the case of a married female, has an extremely common name or has little or no credit.

Most commonly, we do skip-traces, or people locates, to locate witnesses in criminal matters, debtors in civil cases, long-lost family members or friends, heirs, runaway spouses and witnesses needed in some type of civil litigation.  Like any good investigator, we use our databases as a starting point.  From there, the real investigative work begins.  We have found that most people -- whether intentionally missing or unaware they're being looked for -- can be found.
